Ryanair flight compensation

Highest claim volume in Europe. Poland's one-year and Ireland's six-year limits are both relevant depending on route.

€250 / £220 · €400 / £350

Set by distance under Art 7(1), per passenger.

Regulator

Commission for Aviation Regulation (Ireland)

Free escalation if the airline refuses or ignores you.

Registered in

Relevant to arrivals into the EU or UK from outside.

Where to send it

Ryanair requires claims through its own online form before it will engage.

What they tend to argue

  • Routinely cites ATC capacity and weather across whole days of disruption.
  • Has historically resisted claims submitted by third-party claims firms, insisting on direct contact with the passenger.
  • Check whether the specific rotation was already delayed inbound โ€” a common weakness in the extraordinary-circumstances defence.

Claim it yourself first

  1. Write to Ryanair quoting the article. “I am claiming under Article 7 for a delayed arrival on [flight] on [date].” Free, and you keep the whole amount. Use the template.
  2. Give them 28 days and diary the deadline.
  3. Refuse a voucher offered in place of cash.
  4. Escalate free to Commission for Aviation Regulation (Ireland) if they refuse.
  5. Only then consider a claims service.

On short-haul European claims this is the cheaper of the two services. Doing it yourself costs nothing and keeps the full amount — use a service once you have hit a wall.
